BLU-RAY REPLICATION SERVICES

Blu-ray, also known as Blu-ray Disc (BD) is a new optical disc format developed in parallel and competing with HD-DVD. The format was developed for high-definition video (HD). Current DVD format video resolutions are 720×480 for NTSC and 720×576 for PAL. Blu-ray resolutions is 1920×1080. The format offers storage capacity of 25GB on a single-layer disc and 50GB on a dual-layer disc. A single-layer Blu-ray can hold over 4.5 hours of high-definition (HD) video or about 12 hours of standard-definition (SD) video. These numbers will be double on a dual-layer Blu-ray.The name Blu-ray Disc is derived from the blue laser (violet-colored) used to read and write this type of disc. Because of the beam's shorter wavelength (405 nanometres), substantially more data can be stored on a Blu-ray Disc than on the DVD format, which uses a red (650 nm) laser. A two-layer Blu-ray Disc can store 50 gigabytes, almost six times the capacity of a two-layer DVD, or ten and a half times that of a single-layer DVD.
